First off, thank you for giving the residents of this community an opportunity to have a say in its future. It looks like a lot of hard work has gone into this project so far and I thank the project team for that.
I would like to say though that as a regular CAPs meeting attendee (Beat 213), I am very disappointed this is the first I have heard of this project or the meetings associated with it (2/21). Why did I not hear about it from our alderman or alderman’s representative in the January 24th CAPS meeting? They also regularly attend the CAPS meetings and we are told repeatedly by the officers to attend activities of this nature because it helps to grow community. Why was this opportunity not brought to our attention? This is critical community information that we need to hear about and have time to respond to.
Also, there are three different addresses for the March 5th meeting. Can we get confirmation on which address is the correct one?
Again I want to thank whoever is responsible for organizing this group, it’s clearly accomplishing some great things for the community. I don’t believe in being critical without providing a solution. My suggestion would be to identify the people in the community who own the email distribution lists for street associations and CAPS meetings and ask them to communicate dates and times. I would also suggest mentioning these opportunities at the CAPS meetings or providing the information to the CAPS liaisons to pass on (Officer Sykes for Beat 213 and 222). The people who show up to CAPs show a strong desire and interest in the future of what’s going to happen. They are your MOST captive audience!
